Jon D. Clark

Jon Clark was admitted to practice in Ohio in 1993 and has been a member of   Stumphauzerú O’Toole since 2001.  Jon is licensed to practice in all Ohio State courts as well as the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States Court of Appeals, Northern District of Ohio and the Northern District of Ohio Bankruptcy Court.  Jon is a Graduate of Oberlin College having obtained a B.A. in Philosophy in 1986.  Jon earned his Juries Doctorate from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 1993.  Jon practices in a variety of areas, including real estate, landlord/tenant, municipal law and general civil litigation.  Jon served as the Prosecutor for the City of Vermilion between 2001 and 2003 and as the Solicitor and Prosecutor for the Village of LaGrange since 2004.   Jon is a licensed Real Estate Title Insurance agent.

In addition to his law practice, Jon is active in community and local governmental affairs. Jon currently sits as Chairperson on the Board of Zoning Appeals for the City of Oberlin, serves on the Board of Directors of the Zion Community Devolvement Corporation, an Oberlin based, nonprofit corporation and is a member of the Board of Directors for Kendal at Oberlin.  Jon has served as a board member and as past President of the Lorain County Legal Aid Society. Jon lives in Oberlin with his wife Sheryl.

Professional affiliations include mmembership in the Ohio State Bar Association, Real Property Division, Lorain County Bar Association and the Cuyahoga County Law Directors Association.

Jon’s experience includes:

• Providing legal counsel to owners of multi-unit apartment complexes, manufactured home parks, and private landlords in forcible entry and detainer actions.
• Representation of public housing authority in lease terminations, grievance proceedings, forcible entry and detainer actions and providing counsel on related issues.
• Negotiating and drafting residential and commercial real estate transaction documents including purchase and sale agreements, land installment contracts, leases, notes, mortgages, deeds and easements.
• Drafting of mechanics liens and providing related legal advice.
• Representation of claimants in foreclosure actions and bankruptcies.
• Provide client seminars on landlord-tenant and mechanics lien law.
• Advise and represent small businesses in consumer law issues.
